I'm Logan Mahan (AKA Coach Spade), and I choose to be a coach because coaches made me who I am. Being involved in sports and academic competitions my whole life, I've had the privilege of learning from many great teachers. It's an honor to pass on their lessons.
I started training full time in 2023 when my DMs were full of old friends asking how I went from a depressed 408lb dude blaring nirvana and playing World of Warcraft at his mom's house to a 220lb man prepping for a bodybuilding show in 4 years. I realized I could help a lot of people with what I'd learned.
After some consideration, I decided to leave software engineering and pursue my purpose: coaching. Since then, I've had the pleasure of guiding over a hundred athletes, from all walks of life, to self-improvement in the gym.
I do not see the gym as a place to build an ego-bolstering body. I see it as a training ground to engage the competitive spirit and utilize compartmentalized anger, depression, doubt, etc. so it can not manifest freely in other areas of our lives.
I did not stuff my face full of ramen noodles and avoid leaving my room for years on end simply because I was lazy or ignorant; It's because I wasn't dealing with my bottled-up problems and I sought temporary comfort in laziness and ignorance. That temporary comfort led me to nearly a decade of being uncomfortable in my own skin.
Thanks to the gym, I got my body and mind out of that place. I gained the confidence to live my life and experience the world fearlessly. I became a more impactful brother, son, spouse, mentor and friend. I carry the courage to own up to my problems and face them before they silently overwhelm me.
Most importantly, as a coach, I've learned to pinpoint weaknesses in myself and my athletes so that we can embrace our challenges, exceed our limitations and empower our futures.
It gives me a sense of purpose to guide you to these life-altering feats faster than I attained them myself. Creating positivity and confidence through results is how we make our mark on the world. That's what my coaches instilled in me, and that's what I will share with you.
